Having refreshments close by in this remodeled lower level Family Room allows the homeowners to grab a cold drink or snack without having to miss a second of their favorite movie. This compact 60”wet bar gets a refreshed, new look with Alder cabinets and granite counter top. The ledge stone backsplash coordinates with the adjacent fireplace façade in the room. The new bar sink has a hammered metal finish and adds additional texture and interest. The heated floor is wood plank porcelain tiles that are easy to maintain.
On top of the odd shape of this lower level bathroom, the finishes really needed an update. By centering the sink, additional vanity cabinets could be added for towel storage. A large framed mirror is flanked by wall sconces that give off a soft glow of light to the room. The shower is updated with a clear glass shower door and a hand-held shower head that can be adjusted for children or adults. The new porcelain tile mimics the look of real Crema Marfil marble.
A fireplace should be a focal point in a room. This 3-sided fireplace looked dwarfed in this large lower level space and needed a facelift. By adding ledge stone around the fireplace, painting out the gold trim and adding alder wood for the raised hearth and top cap, this fireplace is visually appealing and more appropriately sized for the room. The heated floor is wood plank porcelain tiles that are easy to maintain.
