'50s Rambler Renovation
Fall 2012 Remodelers Showcase
Crystal Kitchen + Bath designer Carol Kornak transformed the dated, small kitchen in this 1953 Golden Valley rambler into Stacy and Paul’s dream of an efficient kitchen for two cooks. Carol replaced the original dark cabinets with painted Crystal Cabinets and added zoned counter space for the two to cook together. Carol found smart ways to expand the counter space and storage throughout the kitchen. Handsome finishes include granite colonial cream countertops and subway tile backsplash with crackled glass accents. Subzero refrigerator and Bosch range and dishwasher are a cooks dream. A cozy, light-filled corner was created featuring a bay window, built-in bench and custom butcher-block table. It’s now the perfect spot for them to have breakfast, read the paper and enjoy their cats that love to sun bathe in the window. Stacy and Paul were very impressed with Carol’s focus on both the esthetics and functionality and loved making selections with her. JoLynn’s project management kept everything moving “like clockwork,” Stacy says. They were also pleased with the integrity, skills and cleanliness of everyone on the job. Now, they are cooking together, in harmony, and loving their gorgeous new kitchen!
